Texas Continues Expanding High-Speed Broadband to Rural Communities

Texas is continuing its efforts to expand reliable high-speed internet access across rural and underserved communities through investments made by the Texas Broadband Development Office (BDO) and the federal Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program.

The state’s broadband initiative aims to improve connectivity for homes, businesses, schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations that have historically lacked reliable internet service.

The Texas Broadband Development Office is overseeing one of the largest broadband infrastructure investments in the state’s history.

Following federal approval of Texas’ BEAD Final Proposal, approximately $1.3 billion in federal funding will support projects designed to connect more than 240,000 unserved and underserved locations throughout the state. Construction is expected to begin as grant agreements are finalized with selected providers.
