Idaho Advances High-Speed Broadband Expansion Through BEAD Program
IDAHO — Idaho is making steady progress on expanding high-speed internet access as it implements the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program. After receiving federal approval of its Final Proposal in December 2025, state officials are now working with broadband providers to advance infrastructure projects across the state.
The initiative aims to bring reliable, high-speed internet to underserved communities, benefiting residents, businesses, schools, and healthcare providers.
Expanding Broadband Access Across Idaho
The BEAD Program is a federally funded effort to close the digital divide by delivering broadband service to areas with limited or no reliable internet. With approval secured, Idaho is now focused on executing subgrant agreements, completing environmental reviews, and preparing projects for construction.
Capital Projects Fund Supports Infrastructure Investment
In addition to BEAD, Idaho is advancing broadband through the Capital Projects Fund, which received $120 million via the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
According to the Idaho Office of Broadband, this includes:
- 18 broadband infrastructure projects
- 15 selected subgrantees
- Improvements expected to reach more than 30,000 homes and businesses
- Project completion targeted by December 31, 2026
